Tuesday, October 11, 2011
SAN MATEO, Calif., Oct. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- eMeter®, a global smart grid software platform provider, today announced that eMeter EnergyIP® meter data management software (MDMS) platform , an SAP-qualified business solution (NYSE: SAP), has been integrated at IBM's (NYSE: IBM) Energy & Utilities Industry Solution Center in La Gaude, France. IBM Forum La Gaude is a center where utilities discover the latest innovations from IBM, explore industry-oriented experiences and gain a deeper understanding of IBM's Smarter Planet vision. The installation of the eMeter EnergyIP turnkey smart grid appliance running on IBM Power7 with the SAPIS-U ECC 6.0 Enhancement Pack 5 system, and integrated with IBM's Solution Architecture for Energy & Utilities (SAFE) Framework, enables the center to now offer a global showcase for an end-to-end, meter to billing, smart grid solution.

"The installation of eMeter EnergyIP, along with other leading Smart Grid technologies at IBM's Energy & Utilities Solution Center, serves as a blueprint for the energy and utilities industry," said Lisa Caswell, World Wide VP of Alliances at eMeter. "The live solution with EnergyIP builds on true successes in the field such as CenterPoint Energy and will remain at the forefront of Smart Grid innovation and implementation."

IBM Forum La Gaude showcases the eMeter SAFE Certified Smart Grid Appliance – a fully integrated solution built on the IBM Power7 server for its scalability and reliability. The appliance offers a breadth of functionality that includes a complete integration from customer information systems (CIS) and MDMS to advanced meter infrastructure (AMI) technology. Integration between eMeter EnergyIP and Iskraemeco and Sagemcom AMI device providers at the Industry Solution Center, is made possible with the eMeter Universal AMI adapter to support frequent meter reads as well as on demand reads. Using the SAP for Utilities MDUS model, the integration between SAP EHP5 / AMI 2.0 and eMeter EnergyIP enables on demand reads as well as provisioning and billing processes at the Solution Center in real time. The added benefits of eMeter's highly scalable software make these integrations a viable solution for any number of AMI's, from 10,000 to millions, with seamless installation. The overall solution also showcases the provisioning and management of meter devices with IBM Maximo, integrated through IBM Tivoli Netcool and IBM WebSphere Process Server.

The technology within the IBM Energy & Utilities Solution Center at La Gaude demonstrates to utilities a solution which reduces total cost by reducing the risk and time of implementation, improving customer service, enabling more accurate and timely billing, and improving meter deployment and management.
